Herb McKenley

Herb McKenley was the first athlete to clock a sub-46 time for 400M with a world record time of 45.9 secs in 1947 at the US Championships in Milwaukee. At the Helsinki games in 1952, McKenley earned medals in the 100M, 400M and the 4X400M relay, the only athlete in history to medal in all three events at an Olympic games. He is also the only sprinter to make Olympics final in three sprinting events, the 100M, 200M and 400M. In addition to his world record in the 400M, McKenley was a member of the world record setting 4X400m relay team with his teammates Arthur wint, Leslie Laing, and George Rhoden. The quartet covered the distance in a world record time of 3:03.9.
